My verdict: If you are looking for an oxford shirt that will last the entire school year, order a bunch from Land's End. Children's Place shorts are another great bet; my son gets a lot of wear out of his. And for $7.99, get a stack of Cherokee polos from Target! Happy Shopping.

  1. and don't forget to check the outlets for some of those stores. I think it was The Children's Place outlet that I saw uniform pants for $9. Probably last years "pattern" that looks just like this year's.

  2. If your kids go to a school where they wear specific uniforms you can always start a uniform resale. We did that a few years ago at my daughter's school and raised over $4,000 for the scholarship fund. It's a total win-win because, as you know, kids grow so fast and it's so frustrating to have to buy them new stuff every time they grow out of the old stuff, sometimes before it's even used looing. We have a sale two weeks before school starts, one the first week of school and one in January. It's a bit of work, but our school is so supportive they provide us a spot to sort and store the clothes in one of their garages. We sell every piece of clothing for $5.00. I have been organizing this for the past four years and it is really gratifying because I am a recyler at heart and the parents who shop the sale are very grateful.

  3. M's school has a free uniform exchange program all year long in a "closet" on the 2nd floor. You can't beat free!

I love Land's End for uniform shirts, pants, shorts. They even have a feature schools can sign up for to have a portion of the money parents spend sent back to the school. The long sleeve shirts we bought there lasted a lot longer than the short sleeved ones we bought at Target. I can definitely see the Land's End ones lasting through both girls. So even though they cost more up front, we will save us $ in the end.
