I did it! Week 4 saw me spend $59.10 at Safeway. So I came in $31 under budget for the month of September. Saving $100 (well, actually $131!) off our grocery budget in one month certainly wasn't easy and I learned a bunch of shopping lessons in the process. I did yearn for a little more fresh fruit (apples and bananas got a little boring) and my husband missed his Diet Coke. The kids probably wished for more Goldfish! I've decided to do the challenge again in October. I will be working on my menus this week and shopping next Monday.
Cheap and Cheerful wants to know: Are you in for October? And what's on your menu?
P.S.: Halloween candy does not count toward the $300. You can put that in your Entertainment column for your monthly budget. ; )

Deal of the Day: Does it some in my size?
With the 20% coupons that are out now (and are good until November 15th), you could get this adorable jumper for your little rosebud for less than $20. However, you may have to get two as it is too hard to pick between pink and black! They have some cute, reasonably priced blouses and mary janes to create a complete outfit. I wish dressing myself was that easy!

Favorite Things: All things in moderation?
Oscar Wilde once said: "Moderation is a fatal thing. Nothing succeeds like excess." Do you agree or disagree? Chocolate in moderation? Good? I think so. And so do the people at Hershey's. Moderation Nation aims to provide information about how to enjoy the good things in life balanced with the really good things in life. Health and happiness all on one little plate. Check it out.
Cheap and Cheerful wants to know: What is your favorite quote about moderation? The winner gets a free Moderation Nation t-shirt.
Full disclosure: Hershey's gave me some chocolate samples, a notebook, and a t-shirt as a free gift for checking out their new website. I'd give you the chocolate but my husband already ate most of it! (Maybe he needs to visit their website?)
